VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) is pure oil made from fresh coconut meat. VCO is colorless and has a slightly sour and caramel odor. Clean coconut meat is grated, squeezed until the coconut milk comes out, heated, filtered by several VCO processing methods, and then continued with the packaging and shipping.
The VCO products are processed without changing the physicochemical characteristics of the oil because it is only mechanically treated, and the use of heat is relatively low. As a result, the content of short and medium-chain fatty acids in VCO benefits human health. Those can be antimicrobial and good for heart and blood vessel health. Moreover, those also provide stamina to the body, lose weight, and prevent degenerative diseases such as diabetes, liver, bone loss, and cancer.
Physically, the VCO must have a transparent and clear color, which indicates that in the VCO, there are no other materials or impurities. Low water content in oil can extend shelf life by preventing hydrolysis and oxidation processes that result in rancidity, the maximum water content of 0.20%. In the market, VCO is sold at prices varying between IDR 35,000 up to IDR 50,000 per 350 milliliters depending on the lauric acid content.
